Hauntings

Why do you haunt me so?
Lost ghosts I can't let go
A murdered heart that may not heal
A punctured hole that may no seal....

Phantom feelings; undying needs
Phantom healing, I continue to bleed...
Wispy phantoms rolling in yet again
Rolling in, rolling out, yet another tide begins....

Is there someone to make me forget?
A person I can be with without regret?
A person to give what I give them
A person to help my battered heart mend
Holding on as long as it takes
I have no strength for more mistakes....

No more fighting for what isn't there
No more fighting for what leaves me bare
Please stop the old haunting of you
Did I ever mean enough to haunt you too?
