My Mother - by Noctuary

I never say
how much I miss you
But I do
You aren’t there when I need you
Even when I don’t
Sometimes I close my eyes
My small fingers touching your
A school yard fence between us
The memory sits sour in my mouth
The anger blurs my vision
Into quiet amnesia
