I got to see it tonight for the first time.  I'm going to jot down some quick mental notes.

wow.
gordan's fake death actually caused me to join the cheering and clapping.
The batcycle came from the batmobile.  That was fucking awesome.

Alright, let me try and dump a bunch of thoughts.  First of all, on my way home it wasn't a question of if. It was a question of should I voice it.  The Crow is no longer my favorite movie.  And 300 isn't even a thought for a possible or sometimes probable tie.  The Dark Knight beat the living  fuck out of that spot and took it over without me having any say in the matter.

First of all, that movie did actually live up to the hype and actually surpass the hype.  That was a top of the line thriller suspense filled action packed tricky left turn taking a right turn phenomenal movie.  It would have completely stood on it's own as a great movie without the batman genre being put into it.  It was fucking amazing.

As far as Heath's performance goes... Well... If nobody would have told me who it was, I would have had no idea that was Heath.  I would have never guessed heath at all.  It was that fucking good.  Not just that he was completely outside of himself, but the total fact that seriously, it was mind blowing.  That was a fucking insane character.   Yet totally in control.  I couldn't believe that character.  I never read the comics, the only exposure to the joker i've had is in the first movie (which was my seriously favorite batman movie 'till i saw batman begins), the tv cartoons and some of the cartoon movies.  I actually had to remind myself it was heath and seriously look really hard into the makeup to catch any heath features.  Like I said, I wouldn't have figured it out on my own that viewing.  Some fleeting moments he shows through for a flash, but wouldn't have been enough for me to figure it out without having been told, not that viewing.

Yeah.

The whole thing from start to finish was amazing. The way they tied it in seamlessly with the first one was fucking awesome.  you could edit that scene at the end of batman begins right into the first scene of the dark knight and put something like "two weeks later" and really, would work just fine.  Was just smooth as fuck.  Harvey Dent was fucking cool.  The whole plan to capture the Joker was fucking bad ass.  When Gordon got shot and killed I thought what, why?  how the fuck can they kill off gordon?  i kept thinking for a while, jesus, i cant believe they killed gordon that's fucking insane.  And when it got to the scene in the dark understreet alleyway between road shit, that dude in the front, I kept watchign that dude in the front.  I'm like, how the fuck dumb can the people be that this dude in the mask isn't being watched?  All the shady shit and this dude's getting a free pass... and a couple minutes in I'm totally sure this dude's one of joker's fucks and he's going to throw a huge wrench in the whole thing.  the way it looked, looked like joker was taking out their escorts and the dude in front was going to take out the rest and then dent would be joker's.  then it turned out to be gordon, the crowd started cheering and clapping and that's when, without any control, i shouted "YEAH!!" and clapped a bit.  that was fucking genius.  they didnt even let the crowd in on a lot of the tricks that were in the works 'till later, unlike so many movies anymore where you can actually figure out the entire plot and be 95% right in the first half hour.

The batmobile being destroyed and the ejection capsule being the batcycle was fucking awesome.  i bet i was one of thousands who saw it in the commercial and figured it was just a new toy.  Fucking sweet.

I had heard, but avoided, harvey dent's transformation into two face.  I had heard that he looked absolutely grotesque and that it was actually shocking.

Can't complain.  That was pretty fucking awesome.  His transformation, forged out of pure loss and pain, physical and emotional -- paired with a well built character... Phenominal.  And pretty damn good ending for him too.  Was fucking awesome as all hell.

Now, the Joker's path ended in capture, and I was seriously confused as to that one.  Batman didn't kill him, saved him actually and left him nabbed and for the police in typical batman fashion.

Turns out there was no scene after the credits.  We stayed to see but the guys shut off the projector.  They surely saw it various times before the premier since they had tape and not digital, which is fine.  So I figured they wouldn't have shut it off if it wasn't over yet.

Plus, it was really cool having visited chicago for a week and watching all the places we had seen hehe... the big building at the end we had spent the better part of two days in our vision, it was great...  very cool

anyway,  I'll add more to this after I wake up and see it again Friday.
